TORONTO- Woodbine Enjoyment is targeting June 5 as the possible opening day of its thoroughbred season.

The campaign was supposed to start on April 17, but was postponed due to the lockdown of Ontario due to THE recent times.

The province is expected to end its house seize on May 20, but it is expected to be extended until June to prevent a fourth wave of the new recent times.

All outdoor sports are prohibited under the house rules.

Woodbine CEO Jim Lawson informed the folks at Woodbine’s horse in an email on Wednesday of the tentative launch date “for preparation purposes only”. He said Woodbine plans to release his first book of Terms and his revised schedule of assignments on Saturday.

“The target start date and accompanying terms and conditions booklet will be provided to help coaches prepare for the opening of our season,” Lawson said in the email. “We have not yet received any information or assurances from the Ontario government regarding the possibility of resuming the race until that time.

“Nevertheless, we continue to have positive discussions with the health authorities and have recently requested talks with the Ministry of Health and the Prime Minister’s Office. We will provide you with updates as we learn more.”

Woodbine organized a number of recent times vaccination clinics last week.

“We estimate that the vaccination rate for the first dose of essential first-line horses is about 75%,” he said. “It’s a good start, but we need to try to get this rate as close as possible to 100% and preferably before May 31, as already mentioned.”

Lawson admitted that he was tired of constantly giving the Woodbine executives hope to stage a 21-year-old thoroughbred experience.

“I want nothing more than to give you the reassurance you need and deserve,” he wrote. “At the moment, however, we have to remain patient and know that we will continue to do everything we can to get back to live racing in Ontario as soon as possible. “
